What is Ducted Reverse Cycle Systems?

A Ducted Reverse Cycle System is a type of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that provides both heating and cooling capabilities using a single system. This system consists of a central outdoor unit, typically located outside the building, and a series of ducts and vents installed throughout the interior spaces of the building.

Here’s how a Ducted Reverse Cycle System works:

Outdoor Unit (Heat Pump): The outdoor unit contains a compressor and a heat exchanger. In heating mode, the heat pump extracts heat from the outdoor air and transfers it indoors. In cooling mode, the heat pump extracts heat from indoor air and releases it outdoors.

Indoor Unit (Air Handler): The indoor unit, also known as the air handler, is typically installed in the ceiling or under the floor of the building. It contains a fan and a coil. In heating mode, the coil acts as an evaporator, absorbing heat from the refrigerant and warming the air that passes over it. In cooling mode, the coil acts as a condenser, releasing heat from the refrigerant and cooling the air that passes over it.

Ductwork and Vents: Ducts are used to distribute conditioned air from the indoor unit to various rooms or zones within the building. Vents are installed in the ceiling or walls to deliver conditioned air into the living spaces and return air back to the indoor unit.

Thermostat Control: A thermostat is used to control the temperature and operation mode (heating or cooling) of the Ducted Reverse Cycle System. It allows users to set desired temperatures for different zones or rooms within the building.
